Abstract
Developing Dentistry is rooted in deep antiquity, from the time that all concerned by the question of getting rid of a toothache. The study of Russian and foreign literature of recent years in the databases of Scopus, Web of Sciences, PubMed about the main stages of development of dentistry. Identified stages of differentiation of dental science, shows the emergence of its independent sections. The characteristic of the main directions of research centers, their leaders and the academic schools. Thanks to the work done the way dentistry in our country in recent years has taken a great step forward. Restoring a complete picture of the formation of dentistry as a medical specialty will contribute to making the correct choice when searching for modern ways of further development.
